A couple of hours of giving can make a real difference to someone’s day. It’s the simple, normal things taken for granted, that we like to give. A friendly smile to a new customer, a cheeky extra piece of bacon to surprise one of our regulars or even some toiletries. They don’t expect it but we hope it brings a bit of joy for them.Because for a couple of hours every morning, we want our customers to feel they’re starting their day just like the rest of us. We know we mightn’t change their circumstances. But if we can help give a good start every day, then as an Early Bird Cafe good starter, we know we’ve helped.

We've been supporting the disadvantaged in Sydney's CBD since 2012

The Early Bird Cafe had its beginnings serving breakfast from Scots Church Wynyard in 2012, and grew so much that by mid 2014 City Community Care Incorporated (ABN 60547256906) was established, and became a registered charity on 23 October 2014. It’s endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). City Community Care Incorporated is covered by Item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. 

The Early Bird Cafe moved to its current premises in 2018 with the support of St Stephens Uniting Church.  We only operate in NSW.

City Community Care Incorporated manages the financial and administrative needs of the Early Bird Cafe through its Management Committee. It does this with the generous support of corporations, small businesses, community groups and an amazing bunch of volunteers.

Our mission is to assist the disadvantaged of Sydney, regardless of whether they are homeless or not. This could be preparing and serving breakfast for its customers, providing practical assistance or support including clothing, hygiene products, sleeping and reading material or even a venue for medical support from external providers

Our vision is to provide services in a safe environment to our customers, the disadvantaged in the Sydney CBD, who attend our premises every weekday mornings.

morning brekky

5 days a week we offer a hearty brekky, hot and cold drinks plus frozen lunches and dinners to over 100 customers.

We offer personal hygiene products, reading material, clothing and sleeping goods to our customers.

support services

We provide access to the everyday life needs such as proof of identity, personal administration etc.

medical support

We provide a safe venue for medical support for customers from our trusted health partners.
